Submitting work to us:

Format

Texts for correction sent by post or fax:

Please ensure that your texts are printed on A4 paper, AT LEAST double-spaced, with wide margins, and preferably in 12-point font. Note that we charge by the hour and not by the page. If you send us figure legends for correction, it is a good idea to send the figures as well so that we can ensure that the figure legends are appropriate as well as grammatically correct.

Texts sent by e-mail:

Please do not encode your files as this may make it impossible for us to open them.

We can read most commonly used word processing formats (not WordPerfect). Nevertheless, the most reliable way to ensure that we can read your files is to send two copies of the file, one in Word format and the other in rich text format (.rtf) or ASCII (.txt).

We can open Powerpoint and Excel files, but if your figures are in any other format, it is probably best to fax them to us.

Please do not use generic names like "article", "text", "figures" or "tables" for your files as this makes identification difficult. Ideally, you should give your files names incorporating all or part of your name and the date (e.g. smith0104.doc). We generally correct texts on-screen, using Word, and return the file, with the corrections visible, by e-mail. If you would prefer your text to be corrected on paper (rather than on screen), you should provide us with a return fax number or address.

Don't forget to include:

  • A return address
  • A billing address
  • The referees' comments if the text you are sending is a response to the referees
